The MVP Looked Simple. The System Wasn’t.

ProductCamp 2026, Session Proposals

My spam filter was doing its job. Hundreds of unwanted emails landed in my spam folder, but I still had to sift through them for legitimate messages.

What if I could stop spam at its source instead?

Armed with ChatGPT and curiosity, I investigated spam campaigns, traced their infrastructure, and filed abuse reports. That sparked a grassroots AI product idea: empower consumers to fight back through collective reporting, creating pressure on the infrastructure supporting spam and potentially protecting more vulnerable users.

I scoped a simple MVP: no inbox integration, just individual messages submitted for investigation.

Simple enough, right?

Then I uncovered obstacles that weren’t technical—and weren’t even within my control.

In this interactive Town Hall, I’ll share the unexpected twists in my product discovery journey and explore how systems thinking and responsible innovation influenced my decisions.

Carla Habeeb is a product manager with more than 10 years of experience spanning technology, business transformation, and film and entertainment production, including work with Disney, Marvel, Warner Bros., and Netflix.

She’s a systems thinker who tends to spot problems before they become crises and ask questions that uncover what others might have missed. Whether she’s examining a production workflow or investigating spam campaigns, her instinct is the same: look beyond the immediate problem to understand why the system works the way it does—and how it might work better.

ProductCamp Atlanta is a collaborative, participant-organized professional unconference, focused on Product Management, Marketing and UX topics. What’s great is the variety of sessions that are offered by our attendees. You’ll have the option to select from several different sessions throughout the day. We need you to share your insights in a panel, workshop, or presentation.
