The Forward Deployed Product Manager: Skills to Build in the AI Era

ProductCamp 2026, Session Proposals

What does it take to work directly with customers and engineers to turn a business problem into a working AI solution?

Explore the emerging Forward Deployed Product Manager role, where customer discovery, product judgment, technical fluency, and hands-on delivery come together. We’ll examine what companies are asking for and which skills product managers can start building today.

Through an interactive demonstration using Claude and Gemini, Snehal and Dhaval will show how a PM can clarify a customer problem, provide useful context to AI tools, challenge proposed solutions, and collaborate with engineering to prototype and test an approach. The audience will help question assumptions and identify what needs to happen before deployment.

You’ll leave with a practical skills checklist and a reusable workflow connecting customer needs, AI-assisted development, evaluation, and measurable outcomes. No coding experience is required to follow the session.
