When GPS first arrived, many people printed MapQuest directions because they assumed the goal was simply to replace the atlas. It was an improvement, but the mindset was still anchored in the old problem. The landscape had changed, yet the approach hadn’t. (To this day, my mom still explains where the grocery store is when I visit her.)
We are at the same moment with AI.
Many teams are racing to “AI-enable” existing workflows without asking a more fundamental question: Do we even still need this workflow? If the nature of the problem has shifted, the solution must shift too.
In this session, we’ll explore:
1. Why AI changes the underlying shape and cost structure of certain problems
2. Which types of problems AI is well-suited to solve (and which it isn’t)
3. How to recognize when you’re solving the wrong problem
4. How to reframe problems so you can apply new tools in new ways
